Weird characters in KJV

It looks like there are some strange characters (maybe for future formatting?) that denote the words of Jesus in the gospels.

I would prefer that the text be formatted red (like it is in a lot of physical Bibles) or these characters be removed. They look a little goofy IMHO when they are in every verse.
